The Old Byre is hostel-style walkers' accommodadtion set in an unrivalled location in Knoydart, called “the last wilderness”. Whether you come to walk or climb the hills, fish the lochs or simply relax, the magic of Knoydart will stay with you long after leave.
Knoydart Peninsula covers some 80 square miles and is situated north of Mallaig in the Western Highlands of Scotland. Home for 120 residents, it can only be reached by boat from Mallaig or walked in over a couple of days. To the south there is Loch Nevis and to the north Loch Hourn. In its midst are four Munros which give Knoydart a wild beauty that holds fascination for walkers and climbers alike and helps to isolate the peninsula from the outside world.
